SAVE THE ENRVIRONMENT
The goal of doing laundry seems simple: You want your clothes to be laundered, clean, and fresh. But the many products available today to help you achieve that goal are anything but simple.
PEAL Starch is an Eco-friendly laundry starch that has been formulated to be in balance with our environment.
Laundry Starch: the Greener Alternative to Spray Starch
Spray starch has long been the way the world keeps their clothes and linens looking sharp, crisp and wrinkle free. For years not only was it the only laundry starch form available but one of the few good alternatives to dry cleaning. It was only a matter of time that a more convenient, economical and environmentally friendly laundry starch product was created. That product is called Peal Starch and in addition to being more convenient and cheaper than spray starch, its undeniably eco-friendly.
PEAL Starch is a concentrated instant laundry starch designed to provide excellent starching in your washing machine. With all biodegradable ingredients, PEAL Starch is especially designed to compliment every day lifestyles. The concentrate powder was specially formulated to be in balance with Mother Nature.
What makes PEAL Starch environmentally friendly?
First, Peal Starch is concentrated and with all things green -- less is more. When you use concentrated household products it means you are using less, which means smaller amounts of products that are not truly needed.
Second, the concentrated laundry starch comes in packaged portions that allow users to starch almost double the amount of clothes and linens that an average can of spray starch. That means fewer amounts of packaging that pollute our world.
Third, the plastic packaging is recyclable, as are spray starch’s steel cans, but there is significantly less energy needed to produced, fill the package, transport and recycle plastic than the cans. Cans are harder to recycle and reuse because they are made from steel.
Fourth, the concentrated laundry starch is dispensed by hand and re-closed with a Ziploc seal. Spray starch, on the other hand, contains aerosols. Aerosol spray contains N20, a greenhouse gas that is 300 times worse than C02 for heating the atmosphere.
For more information on the affects of aerosols in our atmosphere, visit the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s report at http://www.epa.gov/ozone/science/sc_fact.html
There are many very simple steps you can take to protect our environment and make a personal commitment to a greener lifestyle. Here are some more earth friendly tips to try:
Wash “dry cleanables” by hand when feasible. Many dry cleaners use chemicals such as tetrachloroethylene that can cause dizziness, headaches and other problems, according to the Department of Health and Human Services. Many dry cleanable clothes can be washed by hand or freshened by putting them in a dryer with a wet wash cloth.
Front Loaders. Front loading washing machines use less water, less laundry products and less energy than traditional top loading machines. A typical energy-efficient washer uses 20 to 28 gallons of water per load, while a typical standard top loading machine uses 40 to 45 gallons.
Used in front loaders, you'll get more loads out of your PEAL Starch. Normally per load you need 2 ½ cups or 8 oz for medium stiffness. With front loaders you’ll need about half 1 ¼ cups for medium.
No need to spray. With PEAL Starch ironing is a lot less stressful, more enjoyable and convenient.
Penny wise, go green. Protect Our Environment. You can’t beat sunshine when it comes to drying clothes. Clothing looks new longer, when it is hung to dry. Using a lower water level in your washing machine helps conserve water usage and also cost. Imagine how much water you conserve per month when you lower the water level in a washer that uses 40 – 45 gallons of water per load! If you air dry your cloths after using PEAL Starch you'll get more stiffness. The tumbling and heat in dryers can be rough on your clothes and actually reduces stiffness by at least 40%! Best of all, air-drying is free! Another great way to save!!
We encourage our customers to Go Green!
What Can You Do?
There is a lot you and your family can do to reduce your impact on the environment or carbon foot print. Here are some tips and ideas to help your laundry experience be Eco-Friendly:
Use concentrates. As with all things green, less is more. When you use concentrated household products it means you are using less, which means smaller amounts of products that are not truly needed. It also means fewer amounts of packaging that pollute our world.
Stay away from aerosols. Most cans of Aerosol spray contain N20, a greenhouse gas that is 300 times worse than C02 for heating the atmosphere. Cans are also harder to recycle or reuse because they are made from steel. They are recyclable, but have you ever tried melting steel in your kitchen. Moreover many propellants are flammable, so it's dangerous to use aerosol cans around open flames.
Pick powder over liquid. Powder is easier on the environment and the more eco-friendly choice. It’s lack of water makes it more energy efficient to transport around the country. Powders also work better than water based liquids, because the water in liquids causes chemicals to break down making most products less effective.
Educate yourself. Read the labels on the back of your laundry products. Watch out for the preservatives in liquid starch. You don’t have to harvest rain water to be green. But you can do your part by shopping with eco-conscious companies
